The Beverly Theater comes to Downtown Vegas

Article by: Peter Dreyfus - Project Manager

A one-of-a-kind entertainment experience

The Beverly Theater, located in Las Vegas, Nevada, is an exciting new venue designed for performances, film screenings, and other events. The Beverly is a masterpiece of modern architecture and design, and the construction of it was headed by the professionals from Whiting-Turner Contracting. The project included a complex electrical design, and our team at GSL worked tirelessly to deliver the best results possible.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of the Beverly Theater is its "Black Box" theater concept. With light absorbing surfaces, this venue provides an intimate atmosphere that puts the audience right in the middle of the action. The theater boasts some of the most advanced lighting and audio/video technology available, allowing for an unlimited number of show configurations. The Constellation audio system, for example, uses over 90 speakers and 50 microphones to actively tune the room and optimize acoustics for anything from rock concerts to classical music performances. Coupled with a colossal 355” 4k laser projector and cinema screen, the Beverly Theater provides an unforgettable experience.

purpose built for immersion

The Constellation Audio System utilizes over 90 individual speakers and 50 microphones to control the soundscape within. This allows for a huge variety of sound environments to be emulated.

The Beverly Theater's main theater features raked seating of about 150 seats on a retractable platform that allows for expanded standing-room capacity. It can be quickly converted into a multipurpose, black-box theater through an automated system. Multiple lighting plots enable the theater to be used for a variety of events and staged in multiple directions. For film-watching, the 360-square-foot screen is coupled with a motorized cinema masking system and has been designed to maximize viewing angles from every seat.

The outer terrace of the Beverly Theater is wired for audio and is designed for intimate performances, secondary cinema screenings, and social events. The courtyard provides a more intimate space for book clubs, educational gatherings, reading, working, and coffee confabs. With an on-site box office, retail and concession space, fully loaded green room, catering kitchen, and educational workspaces, the Beverly Theater is truly a versatile venue for all types of events.

small crew, big responsibility

At GSL Electric, safety culture is at the forefront of every project, and the Beverly Theater was no exception. The entire project took place without a single GSL electrician having an OSHA injury or being involved in a safety-related incident. This achievement is a testament to the commitment of our team and their attention to detail in ensuring that every project is completed safely and efficiently.

Bo Gifford, the project foreman for GSL Electric on this job, deserves special recognition for his exceptional leadership and expertise. During many meetings, Bo took control and explained to the general contractor and their engineers how the system they designed would or wouldn’t work. His knowledge and experience were invaluable in ensuring that the project was completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

As I mentioned previously, the Beverly Theater is a stunning achievement in modern architecture and design. Thanks to the efforts of both our field team and our subcontractor partners, the project was a huge success. The Beverly Theater's unique "Black Box" theater concept and advanced technology make it an ideal venue for performances, film screenings, and other events. Whether you're a theater lover, film buff, or just looking for a unique event space, the Beverly Theater is a must-see.
